My 2011 in a Glance

My 2011 in a Glance

Wow, I am so blown away by everything that has happened this year for me. It was only a little over a year ago (Dec 2010 in specific) that I stopped and asked ‘what if’. You see I was a very angry and dissatisfied person. A person who carried many voices and self-defeating personalities. A person who thought the ticket was never to look back but only to realize that in order to move forward you MUST look back and quieten those sounds. I had it all, the husband, kids, success, lifestyle-everything that made me ‘look’ successful on the outside. However, I was battling my own demons on the inside. I was pleasing everyone around me hoping that would bring me the happiness and acceptance I so badly felt I needed.

My journey began 6 years ago when I read, read and read more books. I would go through books on a weekly basis hoping to find the answer to true happiness and explanations to my misery. All I got was silence. You see I was looking on the outside for answers when everything I ever needed was inside of me. But I was too afraid to look. I had defined myself BASED on my surroundings. And I never ever thought about making any changes.

My 2011 in a GlanceToday, I am exhilarated with life; excited about the future and totally in love with my being. There is a voice in the Universe urging us to remember our purpose for being on this great Earth. This is the voice of inspiration, which is within each and every one of us.

Lessons to my wonderful 2011

Based on that amazing 8 year experience here are the lessons I have learnt and I am so excited to share with you:

  1. Ask yourself: Am I happy? Do I have an authentic smile on my face? If the answer is no, know that you are not alone 14 percent of the nations on Earth are less than 50 percent happy. In fact, here is an interesting statistic: The Happiest Countries in the world are Nigeria; Mexico; Venezuela; El Salvador & Puerto Rico.
  2. Get out of your comfort zone. It is how we survive. Humans are meant to get out of their comfort zone; that is where creativity lies. That is how we evolved over the years. (Read my post here about getting out of your comfort zone). Despair breeds creativity-it is your choice which path to take. Once I took the challenge and got out of my comfort zone, the very least I can say is that today I am a very happy wife, mother and entrepreneur. I am making all my dreams come true and feeling amazingly optimistic about the future.
  3. Take responsibility for who you are ‘being’. Notice I said being and not who you are. Always think of the areas that are most displeasing to you and look inward first before trying to place blame on your surroundings. Begin with yourself and ask yourself ‘what if that is just a matter of opinion?’ hmmmm icon smile My 2011 in a Glance .
  4. Reach out. Know that you are not alone in your quest. We are all vulnerable and searching for the same thing: to be validated and to ultimately be happy. So reach out and be guided with your soul. Go with what ‘feels’ good. It may be a total stranger. I opened up to a complete stranger and by doing so it allowed me to redefine my life.
  5. Practice to stay connected with your genuine you. You see we carry many ‘We’s’ in defence and on many occasions the other person may take over. (See this post on Your Authentic Self vs Your Ego-it is powerful). In the words of Deepak Chopra‘If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It’s very important to be aware of them every time they come up.’
  6. Remember to always love yourself first and then build a community that nourishes that love. ‘Research within western culture suggests that once our basic needs for security, safety and health are met, our happiness and quality of life is impacted most significantly by the quality of our personal relationships – with ourselves, our partner, family, friends and community.’

My resolutions PROMISE for 2012

I CHOOSE TO:

Remain in a state of openness and wonder.

Always leap into the unknown because I trust that I am protected and loved.

Always be connected to my soul and be the most genuine and authentic me.

My 2011 in a GlanceASK YOURSELF:

What do I want?

What is my life’s purpose?

Is there a contribution I can make to my community or to society?

What kind of relationships do I want to have?

What is my idea of well being & how can I achieve it?

‘Your true self is always available to meet any challenge, find any answer, and show you the way out of any dilemma’-Deepak Chopra.

Happy New Year my friends. Turn your wounds into wisdom and your stumbling blocks into stepping stones.

Be your authentic self,

Daily OM: As you believe | Create Completeness

Daily OM: As you believe | Create CompletenessI am a subscriber of the Daily OM magazine and I couldn’t resist sharing this with you today. Read the following post over and over again. Allow it to be absorbed within you:

daily om 110x300 Daily OM: As you believe | Create CompletenessAs You Believe
Create Completeness

When we affirm that we are fulfilled rather than deficient, we are asserting that contentment is a natural way of being.

The creative power of the universe is infinite. A single molecule’s destiny is as important as the consequences of the largest supernova. Human potential is subject to this power, but because we are sentient beings, each of us is permitted to choose whether we will struggle against it or work in tandem with it. When we give voice to our desires through focused meditation or solicit the help of spirit guides, we draw upon the universe’s creative power to achieve certain ends. However, because our words are not all the universe hears, the response we receive may surprise us. The discourse we establish through our appeals is a blend of speech, thought, intention, and subconscious reflection. When we ask the universe for something, the unspoken message is that what we want does not exist, and the universe accepts this as truth. Conversely, we manifest completeness through affirmations in which we declare our desires as if we have already obtained them.

When we affirm that we are fulfilled instead of articulating deficiencies, we are asserting that contentment is a natural and necessary element of human existence. Our essence is an expression of fulfillment˜the universe wants to satisfy our needs and desires. When we describe our realities in positive terms, we are not denying the challenges inherent in existence. We choose not to focus on lack or dissatisfaction because we understand that the energy of our thoughts will determine the response we receive to our entreaties. Ask yourself how you would feel if your wishes were granted, and then allow yourself to internalize that emotional state. Try to create a picture of satisfaction so vivid that its reality is unquestionable and tell the universe that your vision is fact. At the close of your appeal, express your gratitude, as it is your acknowledgment of the truth of your fulfillment that will set the creative power of the universe into motion.

Working in perfect unison with the creative power of the universe will empower you to manifest spiritual realities in your material existence. As you affirm the beauty, peace, and goodness that already exist within in your life, your capacity to sense and understand their influence will become increasingly sophisticated. To meet your needs and achieve your desires, you need then only banish all thoughts of emptiness so that the energy of completeness can attract fullness into your being.’

Authentic Self Vs. The Ego

Authentic Self Vs. The Ego

Authentic Self Vs. The EgoPsychology has always been a science that has intrigued me. I was in 10th Grade, I remember, when the theories of Sigmund Freud first exposed me to the word ‘controversial’. If it had pictures, it would have been a book you would sneak underneath your bed. Freud’s various theories of psychosexual development and its impacts on the different personalities, he believed, lay foundation to who we become in this world. So, let’s go back to the Id, Ego & Superego.

So the Id is the me and what I need.

The Ego is our immediate conscious world.

And, the Superego is our subconscious mind.

Everything we have experienced remains in our conscious mind and, on most occasions, makes up who we are. It remains buried and only activated once triggered.

The false power of the ego vs the authentic self

The ego is defensive and acts as a mechanism to protect us from the things that may hurt us-especially emotionally. It is unreal and fearful. We have been taught to believe that the ego is what keeps us alive and protects us from harm when, in reality, it is the most destructive. It dissociates you from your true self, it is a ‘wanna be’, a false you.

(find out more about getting into your authentic core here).

Eckhart Tolle describes the ego’s search for wholeness in his book The Power of Now:

‘The most common ego identifications have to do with possessions, the work you do, social status and recognition, knowledge and education, physical appearance, special abilities, relationships, person and family history, belief systems, and often also political, nationalistic, racial, religious, and other collective identifications. None of these is you.’

We are constantly bombarded with images and messages of things around us telling us that we are not enough. No thing or material possession ever defined who you really are.

In the words of Deepak Chopra:

‘If you want to reach a state of bliss, then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. Make a decision to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved, and the need to judge. Those are the three things the ego is doing all the time. It’s very important to be aware of them every time they come up.’

Only the curious survive

Only the curious survive. Curiosity is the name of the game.

fear in place of curiosity 300x300 Only the curious surviveRobin Sharma has taken his teaching to a whole new level. I don’t know whats happened in his life but the evolution has become phenomenal. Now you can feel his words digging into your soul and awakening something super special within.

So, today-we will talk about what makes a leader special. CURIOSITY. Yes, curiosity is what allows us to thrive and grow. It is the very notion of ‘what if‘ that has opened us up to a whole new level of awesome. The amazing things that human beings are capable of began with an idea, that idea was a result of a curiosity.

In his podcast, Robin Sharma talks about what makes a leader special.

What makes a great leader? Curiosity.

  1. Only the curious surviveAsk a lot of questions.
  2. Do not be afraid of the new.
  3. Stay engaged and stay open.
  4. See the world with a sense of curiosity and not judgement.
  5. Have a love for learning.
  6. Have a passion for renewal and growth.

So how do we stay curious? CURIOSITY.

  1. Have conversations with people from a completely different arena, a different field than where you are currently at. Get out of the zone you know so well. Expand your horizons. ‘Cross contextual learning’ will keep you inspired, interested and curious.
  2. Expose yourself to new ideas on a relentless basis; change your cuisine, choice of reading magazine or sport. Keep on pushing the envelope.
  3. Take the time to study kids. Kids see the world through a set of eyes of wonder (see my babies here). They are great models of curiosity. Watch how they learn and how they live out of their imagination. They do not stick to the past.
  4. Take the time to engage in lifelong learning and expand your resources. Read books, watch documentaries, explore galleries and go on expeditions when you can.

‘Spending time with great minds will allow you to play a better game as a human being.’

Be curious and most of all be you because no one else will be absorbing all the beauty around you in the unique way that you do.

Developing the will of iron

My Journey and How I ended up with Robin Sharma

Developing the will of ironSix years ago I began my search for happiness. I didn’t know at the time that it was happiness that I was searching for. To be honest, I just wanted to end the anger and helplessness I was feeling at the time. My story will be told in another post icon smile Developing the will of iron . However, for now let us just say that I have come a long, long , loooong way icon biggrin Developing the will of iron .

A friend at the time had guided me to my first book in years and that was The Celestine Prophecy. You know one of those friends who disappear from your life for decades only to re-appear to bestow some words of wisdom and disappear again. That was my angel of a friend-Joanna Al Najjar. Funny thing is I was never a reader until then. I held my first book since under-grad. and I was hooked, she had opened me up to the world of possibilities. Needless to say, I did not understand a word of the book but I felt something begin to shift inside of me.

I went onto explore the works of Dr. Brian Weiss and Deepak Chopra and again, even though I truly understood nothing, I felt happy to be reading anyway. It wasn’t until I came across Robin Sharma and read The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari and wow did it make a huge difference. All of a sudden everything fell in place.

A full circle with Robin Sharma

So the other day, I met up with a new friend. A wonderful lady who had approached me to teach kick-boxing and as we were getting to know each other, she asks me ‘So, what’s your story?’. As I proceed to give her a backdrop of where my conscious journey began, I find myself speaking of Robin Sharma once again. I explain to her how I had found it interesting that my favourite characters growing up were the Cheshire Cat, Yoda and Aslan the Lion. All along I thought well naturally they were my favourite because they were cute. But the truth is, apart from Aslan the Lion, the White Rabbit and Chewbacca are way cuter. And I am reminded of the truth that there are no coincidences is life.

IMG 14351 e1322776415563 300x225 Developing the will of iron

That interaction was on Friday morning. By Friday evening-I receive a message from another angel friend of mine who disappears from my life every now and then-(Isn’t it funny how those who disappear you tend to love the most lol)-and she says she has a ticket to a conference happening the next day where…drum roll please…Robin Sharma will be speaking. Wow, I just had a big, fat smile on my face.

VIP Tickets and a room full of at least 1,000 entrepreneurs, The Socialight Conference was an amazing success.

Will of Iron as inspired by Robin Sharma

Leaders have an incredible level of self-discipline. They are consist, focused, follow through on their goals and ultimately live their dreams. They have a will of iron.

Robin Sharma shares these success traits with us and how to develop those through 4 main tactics, they are:

1-Join the 5 O’Clock Club.

Develop the habit of getting up at 5am-’Win the battle of the bed’. Benjamin Franklin said ‘There will plenty of time to sleep when I am dead’. This new habit may take you a few weeks but you can do it. It usually takes 3-4 weeks to install a new habit. We have this incredible ability to adapt as human beings. This will give you an incredible level of self-control and personal mastery.

Take 60 mins for yourself in a holy hour: Write your journal | Nourish your soul | Exercise | ‘Re-script your limited thinking’.

2-Finish what you start.

Many people stop doing something the moment it gets uncomfortable. Never give up, elite performers never do.

3-Do the Uncomfortable.

Get out of your comfort zone and when you do that you begin to develop an enormous level of personal power and self-discipline. Your will is like a muscle, the more you flex it and condition it the more powerful it becomes. You already have it within you, you just need to wake it up icon smile Developing the will of iron .

4- Celebrate little things.

When you follow through on self-promise, celebrate that little win. It is important to treat yourself when you follow through on that commitment. It doesn’t matter what it is: try reacting in kindness than in anger. It is already within you, just waiting to come out.

This post is dedicated to my inspirational friend-Carol Burnett who has the will of iron and is customizing her superhero suit as we speak. I love you Carol.

I am currently reading Robin Sharma’s latest book titled The Leader Who Had No Title, more good things to come icon smile Developing the will of iron .

The Art of Redefining Yourself

What makes a great leader?

The Art of Redefining YourselfAccording to the book ‘The soul of leadership’ by Dr. Deepak Chopra. We are all great in some form or another. We are great parents, or men or women of the faith. We are great dancers, musicians, writers … We all have a sense of greatness within us that we must tap into.

The principles of leadership.

While working with leaders, Deepak Chopra gets into the heart of the matter through the various principles he narrows down into a principle per letter: L.E.A.D.E.R.S.

From L for ‘Look and listen’. The art of seeing and hearing, not only with your eyes and ears but your mind and soul, and more importantly your heart. All the way to S for synchronicity.

What’s your story?

‘A good brand is something that you wil buy and use the service of. What you are actually buying is the story’-look at Apple; Nike etc… So know what your story is?

‘Can you make your story emotionally and spiritually inspiring?’

Ask yourself:

Who am I? What do I want? What kind of team do I want? What are my strengths and skills? What kind of skills and strengths do I want my team to have?.

Entrepreneurial change, progress and growth

Entrepreneurial change.

06evolutionman 256x300 Entrepreneurial change, progress and growthAs we are enter a new season and people are looking for change and movement, I make reference to co-founder of MLSP -Norbert Orlewicz. Always the inspirational leader and motivator, Norbert speaks of entrepreneurial change, growth and progress.

You see we are a continuously changing species, we have always evolved towards optimum survival and our natural process is to move on and grow. If we are not growing we are dying. The Universe continues to send us opportunities, gifts if you may and it is OUR responsibility to take advantage of them.

Entrepreneurial change and growth.

So, we ask ourselves: How do we take advantage of these opportunities towards entrepreneurial change and growth?

It is, as Norbert puts it, through “the ability of making bold decisions”. Successful entrepreneurs do not wait and analyze the opportunity for days and months. They have learnt how to trust their gut, their intuition and feel the truth. LIVE IMPECCABLY.

Entrepreneurial change and progress.

To allow for healthy progress and change, a decision must always be made. Never sit on the fence. That is the worse thing you can do, because, quite simply, if you do nothing-nothing will happen. Life becomes stagnant and without growth-just slowly dying.

So look at your own lives and gauge your levels of excitement? Whether it’s positive or negative, it’s change. Feeling uneasy or frustrated are also signs of change, ultimate growth and forward movement.

What is a bold decision? A bold decision allows you feelings of excitement and possibly fear. Step out of your comfort zone (see how I stepped out of mine HERE), push yourself to do new things and you will surprise yourself. Once you feel the exhilaration, this is one step towards a better YOU and ultimately something larger than yourself. Face your fears knowing that you are not alone. We are all facing our individual fears silently. The mistake we frequently make is when we project our personal fears onto others, we do that unconsciously and that not only limits the person infront of us but ourselves as well because we are casting that fear in stone.

Entrepreneurial change and choices.

On many occasions the fear of now knowing whether this is the right decision or not or quite basically of failing is what keeps us sitting on the fence. As those questions bounce in our heads and our emotions are changing between excitement and fear, the longer we take to make a decision-the further away from the decision you get where ultimately doubt takes over and you remain in status quo. So be aware of our intuition and trust your gut. (HERE I talk about getting into your core).

“Be aware of the clues: connect the dots of past events that lead up to certain opportunities coming into your life. Open your eyes and grab them.”

Any time you feel excitement just do it. People will try to talk you out of it, you will try to talk yourself out of it. Believe in yourself people.

“Make decisions from the place that you want to be and not from where you are at”-powerfully spoken by Norbert. You have a vision. Ask yourself: Do your decisions reflect who you want to be or who you are right now? How do you expect to be the person you want to be when your making decisions based on where you are at right now?.

I want to inspire you to take advantage of those opportunities that come your way. Don’t sit on the fence.

Understanding Leverage

Understanding LeverageOne of the keys to success in your business is leveraging both your upline and entire team. If you are building this business alone, it may be one of the reasons you are not seeing immediate results. Know what you are entitled to and find creative ways to move forward.

Network within your own company to become motivated & inspired. Find a team/leader you may leverage or simply become a customer of your current company (because you love the products so much) and jump on board  a team that can help you make a diference.

Do not accept defeat. This business is meant for you, make it happen,

Your leader mindset

What is your current mindset towards momentum?

Inspired by Rob Fore’s wakeup call, truly what is your current mindset? Where is it and how is it serving you? Be true to yourself and ask if you are acting from a leaders mindset? Do you understand what it takes to make this business work? Have you cracked the beauty of leveraging, residual income and ultimate momentum?

Now we all know that the way to truly gain financial freedom is by leveraging your team and creating that residual income we all relish. So, by doing that you MUST spend time with your downline training them to get them off track and growing their individual businesses.

Momentum and fitting the leaders mindset

momentum pic 300x225 Your leader mindsetSo what is momentum that leaders are continually speaking of? What mindset is required to bring on the momentum? You see you need to target those team players that will take their businesses to the next level. How do THEY differ from the rest? Quite simply:

THEY ARE CLEAR ON THEIR CRITICAL REASONS WHY. (see this video here).

When you get into the business, know your critical reason why because thats what is going to carry you through the hard times. Have a reason so powerful that you would not quit-ever. And that continues to change cause as you hit your goals, new whys come up. What is your emotional reason why when failure is not an option?

YOU MUST: ‘take off that security blanket when being mediocre is making you miserable but comfortable.’-Rob Fore. (See this video here to help you get out of your comfort zone.) Ask yourselves how can I add value to the world? Once you know why then you have understood the game / the business of network marketing.

Momentum and ultimate success

So now that you understand what it truly means, you need to personally sponsor 100 people, because 85% will do nothing but 10% will do something even if they build it slow HOWEVER 5% will go on to build the business with or without you-THOSE ARE YOUR LEADERS. Those are the people who will create that 6-figure income.

Now that you know what you need to do, you need to create a plan. Plan out those money-making, result-producing activities.

Let no one stand in your way,

‘Emotion is energy in motion’, yes it is!

Anthony Robbins – who can get enough of him!

Anthony Robbins Emotion is energy in motion, yes it is!Just like many people, Anthony Robbins is a personal hero of mine. For three decades he has been coaching the most successful people on becoming and understanding who they are and the reasons why they do what they do. In his seminars he challenges you to unleash your power within because in essence it: “is about not waiting any longer. It’s about seizing the power that is already within you and challenging you to lead a life of your own design, rather than one that’s been scripted by your own environment, society, or anyone else.” Who wouldn’t want to spend a weekend doing that!

What is it about Anthony Robbins?

If it isn’t his winning smile or his powerful energy that gets you then if you are like me it is his leadership psychology that digs right into your heart. Anthony Robbins urges “listeners to look within themselves, and find the inner blocks that prevent them from finding fulfillment and success.” His guiding principle is this; “We all have the ability to make a positive impact on the world, and it’s up to us, as individuals, to overcome our fears and foibles to reach that potential.” And, if that isn’t a reason to believe that we have to get up now and make a difference then I don’t know what is. (read here to know how to think larger than yourselves).

‘Emotion is Energy in Motion’-Anthony Robbins

One of my favorite talks is the one he delivered at Ted, giving a concise idea on what motivates people. He begins with Emotion, Emotion is Energy in Motion. Decisions shape our destiny, when you focus on something you feel you have to give it a meaning. What shapes us is the state of mind that we are in-that is our emotion. When we do not achieve something, our excuses become claims to our missing resources. However, the defining factor is never resources its resourcefulness.

All our actions are guided by a state of feeling we are in. Our actions are to either heighten that emotion or change that emotion, every step we take is to either increase our pleasure or stop our pain. Once you have understood that you are aware that you are in control of everything around you and you are RESPONSIBLE for the sequence of events in your life. We are all after a feeling… be aware of that feeling you want and you will be in tune with the relative actions that will get you there.

“Can someone change someone else’s feeling or emotional state just by their presence? That’s what leaders do!”

So, when facing any challenge or experience, we are faced with the following 3 questions because decisions shape your destiny:

1-What are you going to focus on?

2-What does it mean?

3-What are you going to do?

So, where do you get daily hour of power? What state of mind are you in? Explore where YOU are today? Your needs, your emotions and your beliefs and begin appreciating what’s driving you and other people.

Be no one but your beautiful self,

78748577CFA7AEEE8074A6A642FF5128 Emotion is energy in motion, yes it is!
